Asian Flat Mates

Pics via weheartit
It's terrible to realize how much school has changed me. Up until I started last year I thought that every Asian living in Finland spoke fluent or at least understandable Finnish.

Lets jump a year forward from that, to this day. I read about a week ago that my second flat mate is going to be either Chinese or Korean (judging from her name). I hadn't heard from her or seen her before today.
I was finishing my book and I heard the door open - which was weird as my flat mate was already home but I thought that she had just went out again, take the trash or something, while I was sucked to the book world (which happens most of the time and during those moments I don't see or hear anything that happens around me). Then I heard another door opening - room number 3! I finished the last page and jumped up. I opened my door and smiled to her with "Hi"

I was shocked when she came to me and smiled "Hei", started laughing as we shook hands and said "Moi". I was shocked to realize that she spoke Finnish! It's terrible that I've gotten used to not using Finnish with people with Asian descend but apparently this will change everything - I have two "Asians" as my flat mates and I use English with the junior and Finnish with the freshman while I'm a sophomore.
The new one started with the same major as I and was thrilled to hear about that. On top of everything we changed a couple of words and apparently our parents live quite close to each other and she actually knows the place where I was working this summer :)
She also told me how pretty I look and I couldn't believe my ears. A cute short Asian girl with a perfect black hair (I've always wanted a black hair) and the perfect measurements to be able to buy and wear all of the clothes bought from yesstyle (made an order worth over 130€.... If the clothes won't fit me I already had a chat with a Chinese upperclassman that I'm willing to give her the perfect jacket for 10€ if it won't fit me) told me I'm pretty.. On top of everything I was wearing an oversized hoodie and my pj trousers and I've been feeling awful for the whole day, not eating thanks to it.. VERY pretty indeed.

Hopeless Romantic

via weheartit
I admit it, even though I don't look like it, I'm a hopeless romantic. I love books with a cheesy love story and cry when the book ends no matter how good and happy the ending is.

And after a short chat with a friend about love I picked up a book and started reading again just to try to forget the fact that my first love is in the same building with me 5 days a week and I'm too shy to go and talk to him after 6 years. We used to be SO close but after two moves (during both we lost contact) I'm too scared to say that this would be destiny even though I'd love to think so.

After the first move it took nearly 4 years for us to meet again, we staid in touch for about a year and after that this is the first time I see him again.

"3rd time's the charm!"

But I'm afraid he has forgotten all about me..

Updates~

via weheartit
The weekend went by really fast. I was sick but luckily I managed to stay inside and spend some time with my cousins. To be honest most of the time we were using my brother's laptop (playing Angry Birds - it was my cousins who were playing it or sitting next to me telling me what I had to do if I was playing - apparently 6 and 7 year old boys are better than girls in every game) and Playstation 2 (I wanted to try and finish a game but after playing 10minutes my cousins sat next to me telling me "You can go through 2 fights and then it's our turn" or asking me what happens in the game (having Japanese voices and English subtitles didn't help at all......). Even though at times it was really annoying I still love them a lot and I'd love to see them more often!

via weheartit
I also checked the calendar and if possible (if the time is okay for Kim) I'll be visiting Rovaniemi before Christmas :3 I'll be able to visit Santa! :D And send Christmas cards with a special cancellation stamp x3 Yes, I'm excited even though it means I'll be spending over 18 hours in train and 2 hours in a bus (in total). The trip will cost about 100€ (and I'll also need the shopping money :S) so I'll need to save up! I've been in Rovaniemi once before but it was over 10 years ago when I went to Lapland and Norway with my family :) This time I'll be able to get to know the city a bit more :)

On Friday I didn't go to school as I felt really sick so I spent the day at my apartment going through things and sleeping. A bit before 2pm I got an order from Janetstore (though I don't need any letter paper at the moment, I have enough - and I ordered even more on Friday.. They had restocked Sentimental Circus letter sets ;;__;;) and a bit after that my brother came over. For the next weekend I'll be staying in my apartment and my brother will come over~ Yay~ :)

The package :3

Angry Birds letter paper :D My cousins LOVED this :3

Key chain :)

Pencil case - haven't had one for years!

And an awesome letter set :3 I've been using it already :3

I was only able to write a postcard and a letter during the weekend though I was working on 2 other letters as well..

To Lithuania and USA - sent on Monday

And I started a letter to a Finnish pal. Went shopping a bit and found that adorable magnet :3

I also got a belated birthday gift from my aunt and took some books from my parents' library

E.B.White's Stuart Little
Neil Gaiman's Stardust (will be rereading it)
Neil Gaiman's Coraline (also rereading it - the only one of these books that is in English)
Stieg Larsson's "Men Who Hate Women" (also known as "Girl with the dragon tattoo" as the original name was too harsh for English speakers)

Blender :DD My aunt told me that the next thing she'll get for me (with my parents) will probably be a hoover :3
Mailman didn't bring a thing today so it resulted in me going shopping a bit and buying a new bag and a purse for myself..............
Today wasn't my day at all

"Woke up 5.30am. Drove from my parents' place to mine 6am-6.40am. Walked in and realized the elevator was broken. Had 4 HEAVY bags. Carried those with me to the 5th floor and went back to sleep for a while. Waited for the bus 10.15am - it was raining and I had left the brolly at my place. The bus was 10minutes late. And on top of everything we only had classes from 11am to 11.45.

THIS is why I don't like Mondays
"

but at least I managed to finish my assignments "these will only take 2 hours or so" - ended up spending 6 hours with those!

Guess who's sick~

from weheartit
Just my luck to get sick after a couple of days of school. Apparently I should've wore a scarf starting from Monday or Tuesday but NO. I didn't pack those with me and my dad brought me the rest of my clothes on Tuesday evening..

Oh~ And while I was moving a couple of my classmates saw me with my dad. On Tuesday one of them came to me and felt a bit awkward asking me who I was the man. I was blinking my eyes for a couple of times as I found the question a bit stupid and just said that it was my dad.
"WOW! He's young!" No he isn't. He just looks young since he takes care of himself. Just like my mum looks more like my big sister than my mum.

On Wednesday I was planning to go to a party but as I was home after 6.30pm I fell on my bed and almost fell asleep. During the evening I realized there was something wrong with my throat so I drank tea like my life depended on it but no..
I went to school yesterday for one class (Russian as I didn't go to the class on Wednesday)
and to be honest it was a pain. Before the class started I saw my old high school friend S quickly, she was visiting the "other school" (there are two schools located in 1 campus and there are over 1000 students in total). We chatted a bit and even she said that I don't look too well.
Anyhow~ Russian class wasn't the best idea when you have a sore throat and don't feel too well. We were mostly concentrated on speaking and pronunciation so after that my voice sounded even worse. I met A before I left from school (it was raining the whole day and guess who didn't take their brolly or jacket with her when she moved!). We chatted a bit and she promised to call me about the classes after she'll get home. I went to get my second cup of take away Chai Latte, brought a brolly from a local shop and took a bus.

Later that day N came to visit me but it was mostly me being half dead and she talking.. But she wanted to see where I live and now she knows. She even met my flatmate(s) and we ate well (kebab).

I spent the evening reading and waiting for A's call and to my surprise I fell asleep right after 10pm.
I woke up feeling a bit better but the moment I decided to sit up I felt even worse than yesterday. Which means there's no way I'm going to school :( Too bad but what can I do? I don't want this to get even worse.. I just spend the day drinking tea and sleeping until I'm picked up to spend the weekend at my parents' place to get the rest of my stuff (like my address book which I was sure I had lost).

Try to find a small address book from this mess!!
Today (right now) it looks like this, a LOT better. Had to clean as N came over

But something good happened during this week as well :3

A brought me 2 packs of seaweed snacks! She let me try these last year, I fell in love and now that school started again I got some more :3 I want to go and buy more of these from Helsinki :3

Yummy!! :3

Got a birthday package from a Finnish pal yesterday (exactly one month late) - drawings are still missing from this one :3

Alice in the country of Clover #2 - Cheshire Cat Waltz 1 :3 Been waiting for this since June! (came yesterday!)

Boris and Alice :3
On Monday I received a postcard from a German pal :3
We'll see if I get anything today :)

Where's my apple juice?

"If I didn't have a girlfriend in Russia, I'd totally hit on you. You're an awesome girl!"

"We all love you!" (at lest the ones who know me)

via weheartit
So I had a night of a couple of drinks too much at my Russian classmate's place and (at least) I opened up to him about many things after got a little bit too tipsy. IT'S A SCHOOL DAY!! But still.. I drank a lot more than I had drank during the last 2 years and when I moved 95% of the "food" items I brought with me were alcohol. Right now I have ingredients for a salad in my fridge and 2 wine bottles. (and I've only bought an onion since I moved in.. THAT'S how much I drank - I even gave a bottle or two to him as his 6 bottles of beer weren't enough..)

But having some one to talk with after a while was actually great :)
Sometimes we were sitting on his apartment's floor at times we were outside as he had to have a smoke after each drink. And for once I found a guy with whom I'd love to be friends for as long as possible.

Let's just say that for once I actually regret drinking.. One reason could be the fact that I hardly ate or drank a thing yesterday so my stomach was quite empty when I went to have "a couple of drinks" and I woke up after 4 hours of sleep (5am) and since then I couldn't get back to sleep..

On top of everything my room is a mess and I had 2 nightmares about my possible 3rd flatmate and let's just say those weren't really nice.. Fingers crossed that the flat mate will be a nice one!!

1st day as a sophomore.

Actually the day went a LOT better than I expected. It was actually a great day (apart from the lecture of air traffic). I woke up after 7am (I had fallen asleep between 10pm and 10.30pm), had a cup of tea, made sure I had every paper and my laptop with me and left to the down town around 8.30am to visit Kela. (just to mention it's usually a HELL to go there). This time I surprisingly managed to get everything done in 5 minutes!!! And I was there a minute or two after they opened on MONDAY morning!!

Anyhow~ I had time to go around so I ate and did some shopping before I went to school 1,5 hours before our first class (started at noon). I sat in the lobby reading Anna Dressed in Blood (finally found out how she died~ ;)) and somehow I managed to lift my gaze to see people around me and there he was. My childhood friend. My first love. The one I've had dreams now and then. He was about one metre from me and we were staring at each other for a couple of seconds, not too long for his friend to notice. I KNOW he recognized me, I haven't changed that much. The last time he saw me I had short hair, exactly like now.
HE'S A FRESHMAN!!!  HE'S IN THE SAME SCHOOL!!!!
(I was texting about it to 4 people and I was trembling like hell around that time. I swear my heart stopped the second I realized it was HIM and I nearly jumped up.. And from now on I'll spend every school day trying to see him and not falling in love with anyone else because I still have feelings for him..)

from weheartit
We had some exchange students from Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland in our first class and they seemed really nice. The first class was over fast (I was talking with fellow Finnish students before and during the class) and I met up with S and saw my lovely tandem partner after months! I hugged both of them but as S had something to do I chose to hang around with my awesome Russian buddy (let's say he's V). He even introduced me to the exchange student (guy) from Netherlands and I met A from Spain. I swear I had an awesome time when I went with V and A to McDonald's and walked back to my apartment after that. I even made plans with V to meet up later today and have a drink or two.

I expected the day to be a nightmare but no! It was awesome and I can't wait to see him at school now and then.. :3
AND I even managed to help my flatmate's friends (they're looking for an apartment but ALL the student apartments are full :(). Let's hope they'll find a flat soon~ Until then they'll be staying over at our flat :)

Stuff from the weekend :3

As promised~ :) Too bad my camera is dying little by little (that's why some of the photos are really blurry no matter how many times I took a new one :() :( I need a new phone AND camera (both are nearly 5 years old :( ))

"Just your average boy-meets-girl, girl-kills-people story...

Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead.

So did his father before him, until his gruesome murder by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father’s mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. Together they follow legends and local lore, trying to keep up with the murderous dead—keeping pesky things like the future and friends at bay.

When they arrive in a new town in search of a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas doesn’t expect anything outside of the ordinary: move, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he’s never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, but now stained red and dripping blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home.

And she, for whatever reason, spares his life."

Apparently Anna Dressed In Blood (Anna Korlov) was a daughter of Finnish immigrants (yay! But the name is more Russian than Finnish..) and she was killed in 1958 - when she was on her way to a school dance. When she was found the next day the white dress on her has turned red from her blood (her throat was cut from ear to ear). Since her death she has killed 27 teenagers (that people know of).
The first family that moved to the house was brutally killed and the walls were paint with their blood - "Anna taloni"[sic]. Anna's house.  ~ In Finnish "Anna's House" would be "Annan talo". "Anna taloni" on the other hand means "Give (me) my house".

Awesome book by the way :)
